The Marigold mine is located in Humboldt County, Nevada, United States on the Battle Mountain-Eureka trend. completed the acquisition of Marigold on April 4, 2014 and published an updated technical report in July 2018. In production since 1989, Marigold is a large run-of-mine heap leach operation with several open pits, waste rock stockpiles, leach pads, a carbon absorption facility, and a carbon processing and gold refining facility. Currently the mine utilizes a fleet of 290-tonne haul trucks and three loading units. Based on the Marigold updated life of mine plan announced on June 18, 2018, for the period to 2027, the mine is expected to produce on average approximately 211,000 ounces of gold per year. The gold doré bars produced at the mine are shipped to a third party refinery. Highlights of the Marigold mine include: Mineral Reserves: Probable Mineral Reserves of 3.6 million ounces of gold at an average grade of 0.49 g/t and 0.3 million ounces of gold in leach pad inventory, as at December 31, 2019.
Potential for mine life extension: Indicated Mineral Resources of 4.7 million ounces of gold at an average grade of 0.48 g/t and 0.3 million ounces of gold in leach pad inventory. Inferred Mineral Resources of 0.2 million ounces of gold at an average grade of 0.35 g/t. Mineral Resources are as at December 31, 2019. Mineral Resources are inclusive of Mineral Reserves.
Delivered strong annual gold production: Produced 220,227 ounces of gold in 2019.
2020 Production guidance: Anticipated production of between 225,000 and 240,000 ounces of gold in 2020.
Marigold operating outlook: Updated life of mine plan for the Marigold mine forecasts average annual production of approximately 236,000 ounces per year to 2023, with peak production over 265,000 ounces of gold in 2021 and 2022, a 30% increase over 2018. Refer to news release dated June 18, 2018.
Mine-life extension through exploration: Approximately $12 million planned for exploration in 2020 will focus on reverse circulation drilling at Marigold and Trenton Canyon targeting near-surface Mineral Resources, and diamond drilling targeting high-grade sulfides at Trenton Canyon.
General Objectives: Reporting to the Maintenance Planning General Supervisor the Maintenance Reliability Engineer (RE) is a salary exempt role that typically works a 4-3 schedule. The primary role of the RE is to provide technical support to the Open Pit Division in the form of Data Analysis, Failure Analysis, and Root Cause Investigation. This analytical work is used to identify risks that could adversely affect business operations. In doing so the RE will work with the Maintenance Department to identify opportunities to improve the reliability of Open Pit Equipment. This role will focus on leading the mine in loss elimination, risk management and life cycle asset management. Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties:
The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
In full partnership with the Mine Maintenance and Operations teams, facilitate/lead root cause failure analysis for major component failures on key open pit equipment.
Undertake analysis of machine performance data including MTTFFAPW (Mean Time To First Failure After Planned Work), OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), MTTFFAPM (Mean Time To First Failure After Preventative Maintenance), etc. and in conjunction with MineCare Data Analysist role, identify, quantify, and implement opportunities that will improve overall equipment reliability and performance.
Work with Maintenance Supervisors and Planners to track progress and value of improvement initiatives that are undertaken within the department
Maximize maintenance efficiency to ensure maximum cost benefit while lessening the interruption to production using predictive and maintenance techniques and systems
Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans. Participates in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers. Develop acceptance test and inspection criteria. Participates in the final check-out of new installations.
Provide Leadership and Support to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment by identifying gaps in key equipment Maintenance Strategies. Work with Maintenance team to modify strategies as needed.
Develop historical data through observation and analysis, which will be used to conclude component and equipment lifecycles. This data will be useful for budgeting equipment/component replacements.
In cooperation with the Maintenance team, develop solutions for repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect equipment reliability
Maintain accurate data management and record keeping of maintenance history
Support and grow a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance department
Report on standard maintenance measures that are directly related to the production fleets – namely: availability, mean repair duration, mean time between maintenance, component usage and cost (actual versus budget) monthly
Oversite of bulk oil and fuel cleanliness standards
Lead all predictive technologies employed in the Maintenance Department (Oil Analysis, Vibration, Thermography, MineCare, etc.)
Contribute to MSHA investigations when required. In addition, be involved with any remediation that may be required – associated with citations/recommendations from MSHA audits
Performs duties and activities in a manner that conforms to all safety practices and other policies, procedures and standards that are established by the company or required by law
Performs additional duties as required
Required Skills Minimum of 5 years practical reliability engineering experience in a mining or related maintenance field
Experience in NDT (Non-Destructive Testing)
Excellent communication and organizational skills: Communicate regularly, both written and oral in a wide range of forums
Time Management: Ability to pace own work and work unsupervised. Capable of adjusting priorities when necessary
Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions as needed
Excelled proficiency with computer skills and software: Microsoft projects (GANTT Chart), AUTOCAD, Microsoft Office and a CMMS
Must be able to multi-task and change priorities quickly, while recognizing when decisions need to be elevated
Local candidates preferred
Required Experience Mechanical/Electrical trade or Bachelor qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Capability to lead, mentor and develop staff
