Salary: Level I: $19.13$23.36 Hourly; Paid Biweekly; Level II: $20.11$24.55 Hourly; Paid Biweekly Shift work: 5% additional pay for evening shift work; applicants must be willing to work any shift of a 24-hour period and any 5 of 7 days. Minimum Qualifications/ Employment Standards:
Level I : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in any field which includes a minimum of 12 semester or 20 quarter units in behavioral science, OR A Bachelor's degree and six months experience equivalent to a Human Services Technician II, Employment Counselor II, Job Developer II, or Eligibility Technician II, in the Kern County classification system. Level II: In addition to the above, one year of social service case management experience. OR Bachelors degree in Social Work and six (6) months of social casework experience. OR Bachelors degree and successful completion of 24 semester or 40 quarter units of a Master's degree in Social Work or a Counseling program, from an accredited college or university, emphasizing Marriage, Family and Child Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy, Gerontology or Clinical Psychology. Possession of a Class C California driver's license is required. Incumbents must have the ability to travel to designated locations. Certification of Typing/Keyboarding speed of 25 net words per minute.

Full Job Description For: Social Service Worker I Full Job Description For: Social Service Worker II Examinations: Written Exam (Weight 40%): Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of socioeconomic conditions and trends; basic principles of individual and group behavior; principles of interviewing and problem solving; effective public speaking and public relations methods; cultural diversity. The Human Resources Division may limit the number advancing to the oral exam to approximately the TOP 40, based upon the final earned results of the written exam. Oral Exam (Weight 60%): Will be conducted for the purpose of appraising the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position. PLEASE NOTE: Kern County Human Resources is taking precautions to protect staff and applicants from potential exposure to COVID-19. To ensure the continued safety of our staff and applicants, and due to the unique circumstances presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, Kern County HR is conducting remote oral exams. Therefore, all applicants that pass the written exam and continue to the Oral exam phase of this recuritment must have access to a computer or cell phone with audio and visual capabilities, and must have a g-mail account.
