You must be able to provide exceptional personalized service to customers, receive and pay out money, keep records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions and refer customers to products and services. Training would be provided to prepare you to become part of our Universal Associate team!
A Universal Associate (UA) provides exceptional personalized service to customers by:
Working all over the lobby, greeting every customer within five seconds after they walk in the door. The associate who greets the customer, owns the customer.
Taking the customer to a pod if a customer needs to do a transaction. To open an account or do a task requiring a greater degree of privacy, the same associate will take the customer to an office setting.
Addressing all service or transaction needs, opening basic accounts and getting things started on all fronts, whether it is a consumer loan, mortgage or business banking request. Then, they will pull in people who know more.
Meets certain training requirements with a higher degree of capability and skill set for the four levels of the Universal Associate Role (I, II, III and IV).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Possesses and displays a positive attitude in managing change, working and communicating with others and adhering to policies, procedures and customer service standards.
Continually meets client expectations and established goals and objectives by serving external and internal customers under guidelines of Bank standards.
Discovers customer needs, develops solutions and implements plans to exceed customer goals and expectations.
Contacts customers and businesses, community, and civic organizations to promote goodwill and generate new business.
Responds to customer inquiries, manages customer complaints and/or resolves customer problems.
Actively participates in the community.
Receives and pays out money.
Keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions.
Refers customers to corporation products and services by profiling new and existing customers in order to suggest and open quality deposit accounts, takes loan applications and assists lender in loan processing.
Maintains acceptable number of variances within Universal Associate difference policy, accepts checks in accordance with check cashing guidelines, and accepts deposits and places holds on accounts in accordance with policy and procedures.
Balances currency, coin, and checks in cash drawer at end of shift as well as removes deposits from, and counts and balances cash in, automated teller machines and night depository.
Ensures all customer sensitive information, bank records, currency and coin is secured at all times and adheres to established Security Policies and Procedures.
Accepts loan, and MasterCard/VISA payments.
Uses COCC Dashboard and Sales Tracking daily and continually meets established referral goals including referrals to Wealth and Asset Management.
Empowered to make customer decisions.
Actively seeks professional development opportunities as well as training and learning opportunities.
Successfully completes assigned e-learning courses.
Opens new quality deposit and loan accounts in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Consistently completes and submits accurate and thorough documentation on a timely basis.
Counts and records currency and coin in vault.
Checks Universal Associate area, make sure all cash/coin is put away and all customer sensitive information is secure.
Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiencies.
There are four levels within the Universal Associate Role. Each level is defined as follows:
Universal Associate I: Processes transactions and handles cash, vault, ATM responsibilities, etc. as outlined above. Opens and maintains deposit accounts for consumers and businesses and completes all necessary maintenance on customer accounts. Minimizes deposit documentation exceptions on an ongoing basis*
Universal Associate II: Completes all requirements of Universal Associate I role and completes consumer loan transactions including taking and processing the application with appropriate supporting documents, closing the loan and accurately, completing all necessary documentation. Minimizes documentation exceptions and maintains appropriate portfolio of consumer loans. Demonstrates good analytical and decision making skills.*
Universal Associate III: Completes all requirements of Universal Associate I and II roles and completes home equity loan and line of credit transactions including taking and processing the application with appropriate supporting documents, communicating in a timely and professional manner with Loan Operations, closing the loan and accurately completing all necessary documentation. Minimizes documentation exceptions and maintains appropriate portfolio of consumer and home equity loans. Demonstrates good analytical and decision making skills.*
Universal Associate IV: Completes all requirements of Universal Associate I, II and III roles and completes mortgage loan transactions including taking and processing the application with appropriate supporting documents, communicating in a timely and professional manner with the Mortgage Department and accurately completing all necessary documentation. Minimizes documentation exceptions and maintains appropriate portfolio of consumer, home equity and mortgage loans. Demonstrates good analytical and decision making skills.*
Promotion will be considered based on portfolio of loans, accuracy of documentation and other feedback received. Universal Associate levels III and IV may be granted specific limits of lending authority after successful completion of Consumer and Home Equity training (NMLS# required).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
