Job Summary The School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) overarching mission is to contribute to the protection of the Earth's resources and the achievement of a sustainable society. Through research, education, and outreach, the faculty, staff, and students are devoted to generating knowledge and developing policies, techniques, and skills to help practitioners manage and conserve natural resources to meet the full range of human needs on a sustainable basis. The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Community serves as a strategic advisor reporting directly to the Dean and will lead and collaborate with faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members to develop, promote and advance our Diversity Strategy. While SEAS is positioned for significant growth, this is a unique opportunity for a leader with a track record of diversity related accomplishments to impact priorities and direction. Supported by academic and administrative leadership, the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Community will be passionate and prepared to build on the university's successes while identifying a strategic plan to enhance innovative thinking and address pressing issues related to DEI. You will supervise a team of DEI professionals and collaborate with leadership and units at SEAS. You will also lead the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee to assess and refine current practices that will help us move towards a more inclusive community. Responsibilities* Strategic Planning & Execution (35%) Develop, implement, and oversee SEAS’s DEI strategic plans. Translate strategies into tactical plans with clear action, accountability, and goals that promote an equitable community.
Work with teams across SEAS in order to integrate DEI best practices into curriculum, leadership, culture, community, student recruitment, and infrastructure.
Develop metric strategies, assess program outcomes, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Consult with the Executive and DEI committees, to communicate strategy, share outcomes of strategic plans and communicate metrics of success.

Leadership & Management (35%) Supervise, coach, and develop DEI staff including Program Manager, DEI Recruitment and Training Specialist, and Graduate Student Assistants. Assign work as appropriate in order to achieve goals and objectives.
Lead DEI committee and liaison DEI curriculums and initiatives with faculty, staff and students.
Manage resources and obtain additional funding for programs and activities promoting community engagement.

Partnership and Collaboration (30%) Partner with leadership and staff to ensure DEI practices are understood and supported.
Develop and cultivate relationships with community partners and organizations on and off campus.
Lead team in the implementation of programs and events to develop a strong community of students, faculty, and staff embracing SEAS’s vision for an inclusive community.
Collaborate with alumni affiliates and integrate multicultural concepts that will support the SEAS community.
Foster relationships with diverse institutions and pathway programs.

Required Qualifications* Master’s degree in a related field and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
Experience implementing and managing effective diversity change efforts.
Ability to develop strategic plans and establish systems of accountability.
Experience with societal bias and ability to apply this knowledge to improve processes.
Knowledge of contemporary issues of inclusion, social justice, diversity, access, and equity, including the current scholarship and educational approaches that inform and address these issues.
Experience managing professional/and or administrative staff.
Experience in coalition building and engaging diverse partner groups.
Demonstrated ability to network with different internal and external stakeholders.
Experience managing budgets, pursuing creative funding opportunities, and engaging with community partners.
Experience developing content for inclusive and emerging communications needs.
Fundamental knowledge of how varied forms of institutional data can be leveraged to benchmark and track accountability for the diversity mission.
