Job Description Responsible for the Helping of maintaining and providing safe and reliable gas transportation and storage. Assist in the Investigation and identify gas leaks on company piping systems. Help perform various types of maintenance on company facilities and instruments. Operates company vehicles. All tasks in this classification must be under the supervision of an Operator or a Higher Grade Employee of the Hampshire Gas Company.

Investigate and identify outside gas leaks
Take necessary measures to insure safety to life and property
Job assignment responsibilities
Be able to Help in all the following Job Assignments listed below under the Supervision of a Operator or Higher Grade Employee of the Hampshire Gas Company
Operate one 1320 hp Natural Gas Ingersoll Rand gas compressor.
Operate all compressor station support equipment and systems including one 125 KW natural gas engine driven emergency generator , two air cooled process heat exchangers, various electrical and gas motor driven process and utility pumps, two instrument air compressors, one fuel gas line heater, plus all associated valves, control systems, safety systems, utility equipment, etc.
Compute hourly natural gas injection and withdrawal flow and communicate to Gas Supply System Control. Maintain all associated station and equipment logs.
Operate storage field withdrawal flow control station.
Monitor gathering system pressure during injection and withdrawal. Make precision pressure readings from gathering system and storage wells using dead weight gauge.
Operate all well site and gathering system equipment including twelve glycol dehydration and nine separator units. Twelve orifice meter runs, plus all associated valves, utility and mobile fire fighting equipment, etc…
Perform minor maintenance on all items of equipment, machinery, valves, etc., plus general maintenance on all vehicles, mowers, power tools, etc.
Assist on drilling rig during well work, casing inspection, etc.
Perform gathering system pipeline inspections.
Monitor gathering system and storage well cathodic protection equipment.
Assist with on-going program of pipeline hydrostatic testing, including digging out and doping lines, helping welders and x-ray technicians, etc.
Empty, inspect and refill fire extinguishers.
Monitor gathering system and storage well cathodic protection equipment.
Perform calibration and test procedures on compressor station gas detection and fire detection systems.
Assist instrument technicians and electricians with installations and maintenance.
Perform miscellaneous duties such as mowing grass, cutting brush, removing snow, general building maintenance, etc…
Perform regular and scheduled maintenance on company facilities
Regular and scheduled maintenance is defined as, but not limited to:

Leak investigation, grading, detection and surveys
Valve inspection, drip monitoring
Basic troubleshooting
Tighten, adjust and repair basic/minor leakage
Awareness of construction related activities in areas of Hampshire Gas facilities for damage prevention purposes
Interpret company records and equipment books
Ability to read and interpret company records
Field notes, construction prints, etc.
Ability to interpret Station operators information when relayed verbally
Locate and mark company facilities
Ability to use locating equipment
Knowledge of Miss Utility laws and One-Call Center
Effective communication via Radio
Use of proper terminology and professionalism while communicating
Able to professionally represent Hampshire Gas while communicating with customers to maintain a close and reliable relationship
Install and remove protective barriers (i.e. shoring material)
Follow and adhere to company standards as it pertains to proper excavation practices
Load and unload required material
Operate power tools as needed
Breakers, rammer, clay spade, drills, cutters, saws, etc.
Excavate company facilities
Hand excavating tools
Awareness and follow proper procedures when excavating near or around other utilities
Stock and equip company vehicles
Secure and store materials safely
Proper disposal of excess debris
Keep vehicle clean and orderly
Follow guidelines for returning damaged material
Education: High School diploma or its equivalent (G.E.D.). Basic computer skills.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: A Valid Drivers License.
SHIFT WORK: As required
DOT COVERED POSITION- SUBJECT TO DRUG TESTING AND ALL OTHER U. S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION MANDATED DRUG TESTING


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities High School Diploma/GED
Valid Driver License
Basic computer skills
