If you would like to join our team of Hunger Heroes take a look at the job description below and apply now!FEEDING AMERICA RIVERSIDE|SAN BERNARDINOPOSITION TITLE: Product Development CoordinatorREPORTS TO: Director of ProgramsSTATUS: Full Time, Hourly, Non-ExemptBENEFIT ELIGIBLE POSITION (Vacation, Sick, 401k)POSITION SUMMARY: This position manages the Feeding America Riverside San Bernardino (FARSB) Retail Grocery Rescue Program and is responsible for meeting with regular, potential, and lapsed donors to solicit product donations. Retail Grocery Rescue Program includes reporting, monitoring, and meeting donor requirements. Ensures all sites distribute product within program guidelines and that all FARSB partners comply with Feeding America and FARSB agreement terms and conditions. Food sourcing includes the creation and maintenance of the overall food bank source plan to meet FARSB’s volume requirements, support FARSB’s product needs while meeting annual food distribution goals.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Retail/Grocery Rescue ProgramMake food available to hungry people in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties while developing community awareness and upholding FARSB values. Act as liaison between FARSB and Partners by promptly responding to Partner calls, requests for information, and complaints to ensure all questions are satisfactorily answered. Act as liaison between FARSB and retail stores by promptly responding to requests or complaints to ensure all questions are satisfactorily answered or issues resolved. Conduct orientations for new Partners and new Partner representatives to ensure each Partner has the knowledge necessary to utilize FARSB’s services. Provide Partners with the technical assistance necessary to develop and expand their service within the community. Maintain accurate records by reviewing and submitting monthly Partner donated poundage reports, updating and maintaining the FARSB’s Partner database, and maintaining updated information in Partner files for the efficient, ongoing operation of Partner Relations. Work cooperatively with members of the operations team to ensure efficient distribution of product to Partners and FARSB’s programs. Be ServSafe certified, within 30 days of employment, for knowledge awareness, food safety, and handling standards. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Programs and/or CEO/President.
Product AcquisitionsConduct donor research, cultivation, and ongoing stewardship activities. Collects food industry information and identifies potential donors targeted at farmers and producers of agricultural products. Work with the Director of Programs and CEO/President to develop consistent strategies for prospect tracking. Researches potential new food donation sources; creates, maintains, and shares a tracking system of potential donors. Coordinate donor recognition efforts with the Director of Programs and/or CEO/President. Participate in strategic planning with the Director of Programs to ensure that donor cultivation efforts are well-coordinated, executed, and tracked so that the database can serve as a strong cultivation tool for the department. Establish relationships with local agricultural producers within FARSB’s service territory. Joins and participates in approved organizations and associations to build relationships with food industry partners and business community members. Provides weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as assigned by the Director of Programs. Participates in special projects at the request of the Director of Programs and/or CEO/President. Must be available for occasional weekend or evening shifts as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs or CEO/President.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES: Network and actively participate with other social service and food assistance organizations by attending meetings, making referrals, and speaking at events to ensure greater awareness of FARSB’s issues and visibility. Attend conferences, workshops, and other related events to promote continuous quality improvement of Partner relations.
PROFESSIONAL ATTRIBUTES: Associates degree in related field; or one to three years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong organizational and planning skills. Detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Enjoys and has the ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences. Work schedule flexibility. Knowledge of Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Computer experience and familiarity with Microsoft products. Valid California Driver’s license, current insurance, and ability to be insured by FARSB company vehicle insurance. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, recipients, customers, and the general public.
Qualifications: Must be reliable, have a dependable vehicle, and possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license and insurance. Two-year clean driving record required for employment. High School Diploma; must have excellent verbal, written, and organizational and public speaking skills. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds. Professional demeanor and work attitude at all times. Ability to work well as part of a team, pay attention to detail and instructions. Perform general duties but not limited to copying, faxing, mailing, phones, filing, and emails. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products.Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, recipients, customers, and the general public. Bilingual in Spanish is required.Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
