Stormont Vail Health is searching for a Medical AssistantWamego ClinicFTDays#1268 in our Wamego department. This position is at 1704 COMMERCIAL CIRCLE, WAMEGO, KS 66547-9690 USA.
Schedule: Full time36 hours/week or greater
Shift: First Shift (DaysLess than 12 hours per shift)
Minimum Qualifications: Education/Experience:
Active Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), OR completed a Medical Assistant program, OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), OR nursing student who has successfully completed their first semester of nursing skills in an accredited nursing program
Must successfully complete department skills checklist within 90 days of hire
Must have a current BLS/AED certification within 90 days of hire.
Non-tobacco user preferred.
Certificates and Licenses:
CPR Certification is required within first 90 days of employment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Obtains vital signs, medication list, allergies, simple patient history information accurately.
Applies appropriate technique while performing testing in areas of visual acuity, hearing, peak flow meter and pulse oximetry.
Knowledgeable of correct set-up and procedures to safely perform ear irrigation, nebulizer treatment, monitor oxygen via mask and nasal cannula, assist with suture care and removal, perform 12 lead EKG.
Knowledgeable of and follows correct techniques in the ordering, collection,, and labeling specimens; in assisting providers in clean or sterile procedures.
Applies proper techniques with hand washing, instrument handling and care, care and cleaning of exam rooms and equipment and determination of when and how to use personal protective clothing/equipment
Assists with simple patient teaching: procedures, laboratory tests, medications, etc.
Receives telephone messages and appropriately relays these messages to the physicians and nurses.
Maintain smooth flow of patients through the clinic.
Assists with callbacks as indicated to deliver prompt, prioritized patient care (patient, pharmacies, insurance companies, etc.)
Assists with Code Blue events and transfers to hospital.
May assist with wound care and cast care.
Maintains cleanliness of equipment, examination and treatment rooms.
Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials. Prepares list of supplies needed.
Efficiently documents medical information using the appropriate electronic applications and/or forms.
Makes assessments and corrections of patient rooms and surrounding area for safety
Participates in intra- and inter-departmental committee activities.
Responsible for quality of care given by self.
Responsible for understanding and showing respect for patients’ rights including confidentiality of patient information.
Assumes responsibility for patient safety by utilizing appropriate channels to communicate patient safety and patient care issues to appropriate bodies.
Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills.
Must possess the ability to organize and prioritize assigned work duties and have a desire to interact with patients in a professional and empathetic manner.
