The incumbent is responsible for the operation of all vehicles in the Unit for the transportation of patients, supplies, and equipment for both the Little Rock and North Little Rock Campuses.
Drives patient transport vehicles to pick up and transport patients under nonemergency conditions.
Operates vehicles in this Unit for the transportation of patients, supplies, and equipment (i.e., mini-vans, large vans, extended cab pick-up, wheelchair van and litter van, stake bed truck equipped with a dump bed and snowplow and box trucks equipped with power tailgates).
Performs maintenance on all of these vehicles including ambulance and patient care vans and trucks.
Maintenance of vans including cleaning and maintenance of GSA vehicles for use by government employees.
Receives work orders, trip tickets, and oral instructions.
Assists in loading, unloading and transporting the patient.
Drives on public roads, controlling their speed to make the patients as comfortable as possible.
Drives shuttle vans over routes at scheduled times keeping right on schedule, even in heavy traffic, adhering to all State and local traffic laws.
Assists the accompanying medical personnel in loading, unloading and transporting the patient.
Safe loading and unloading of the vehicles.
Operate wheelchair lifts safely.
Practices defensive driving, exercises emergency privileges properly, prevents accidents, engages in safe driving practices.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Moderate lifting (15-44 pounds), moderate carrying (15-44 pounds), both hands required, operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, specific visual requirement (visual 20/30, 20/50), ability to distinguish basic colors, hearing (aid permitted).
Environmental Factors: Outside, excessing heat and cold, excessive dampness or chilling, dust, grease and oils, working around machinery with moving parts, working around machinery with moving parts.
