Detail of : Quality Lab Technician Job Opening in Munster
Scope: This position is responsible to ensure produced parts are in accordance with customer established tolerance levels for quality and performance.Major Areas of Responsibility: Perform first piece inspection, in-process inspection and final inspection by measuring parts with hand held gages and other measuring equipment and visually inspecting parts for defects. Document results for all inspection processes on data sheets or in computer. Participate in studies (balance, bore force, run out, gage R & R, capability studies), perform required testing and document results. Recognize trends in quality data and escalate to create awareness and correction. Perform equipment checks in lab per quality standards. Participate in calibration activities. Assist in preparing for customer audits and participate in meetings as required. Perform work cell audits Review and collect quality data to ensure ISO quality standards are met which includes document control. Participate in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Comply with all Tec Air safety rules.

Other duties may be required per customer requirements.Job Requirements: Requires High School diploma or GED, a minimum of 2 years manufacturing work experience is a plus. Prior quality experience helpful, but not required. Requires basic reading skills to follow written work instructions, read labels, parts list, customer specifications, gages, test data and company publications. Experience using measuring equipment, calipers, gages, gage pins, go/no go gages. Basic written communication skills to complete forms and documents results. Good oral communication skills to convey work progress, report problems and provide suggestions to improve processes. Basic computer skills to enter data, run reports and copy files. Must be able to work on weekends. Ability to read part prints, and other PPAP documents helpful. Ability to work independently and pay close attention to details.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform a job that requires lifting up to 40lbs. Ability to Stand 85%; Walk 10%; lift 5%; during an 8 hour shift. Requires good manual dexterity to handle small parts. Requires close vision acuity to inspect small parts for various defects.
