Emergency Medicine provide Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma care for more than 33 of California's 58 counties. System is home to state-of-the-art emergency care for children. Our Pediatric Emergency Department features the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center in inland Northern California (verified by the American College of Surgeons). From Portland to Fresno, from outside the Bay Area to Reno, no other hospital in inland Northern California has a Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center servicing approximately 70,000 patients each year.
The Department of Emergency Medicine at UC Davis provides a dedicated team of physicians, nurses, 42 residents, and a total of 26 specialists of every medical and surgical specialty to treat critically ill and injured adults and children. Our team provides an extraordinary level of knowledge, skill and compassion to every patient we serve at our Level 1 Surgery and Emergency Services Pavilion. The Emergency Department is prepared and equipped to provide comprehensive and efficient emergency care to patients in need of medical and surgical specialty physicians to treat critical and acute illnesses and injuries 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Sr. Emergency Trauma Technician provides ancillary support to both the nursing and medical staff within the Emergency Department. This position performs EKGs, Wound Irrigations, Wound Preparations/Bandaging, CPR, Patient Valuables Check, Patient Transports, Vital signs, assist in equipment setup i.e. Pleuro-Vacs, Suture Trays and other surgical trays, splints, C-Spine Immobilization, oxygen setup, application of restraints, postmortem care, teaching patients crutch walking and cast care. Assists nursing and medical staff in other duties as required.
At least 1 year recent EMT experience in Emergency Department
Documented work experience and skills/knowledge to work with all department equipment
Documented familiarity with medical terminology/asepsis
References reflect an overall meets or exceeds.
Works overtime as defined by the collective bargaining agreements; floats to other areas; and works weekends, holidays and on call as required.
Ability to safely lift 25 lbs. and assist in moving patients and stand on feet over extended periods.
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
