Department Description
The Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics is a large complex academic department with 24 ladder faculty, 6 cooperative extension specialists, 3 academic federation faculty, and 10 Unit-18 lecturers. The department provides instructional, research, and outreach programs. This position is part of a team of 4 who manage all aspects of ARE's undergraduate program. JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, provide comprehensive academic advising and support services on a wide range of complex issues as needed in admissions and academic services for the undergraduate major, Managerial Economics, in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, for purposes of business and operational transition and continuity. POSITION INFORMATION Salary Range $19.54$39.27/Hr.

WORK ENVIRONMENTWork flexible schedule and occasional overtime evenings, weekends and holidays to meet operational needs.
Valid California driver's license to transport materials and to attend meetings.
Restricted vacation during peak periods as defined by supervisor, such as the first 2 weeks of any term, first 2 weeks of PASS 1 registration, and Career Day planning.

QUALIFICATIONS Required:Experience with counseling and advising students in a higher education setting including academic planning and course selection, major certification, and study skills assistance, providing immediate crisis counseling and recommending/referring for other support services as needed.
Knowledge of transfer admissions criteria and applicability of credit from other institutions.
Experience in problem identification, reasoning, analysis to identify trends; ability to find solutions to conflicting situations.
Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing; ability to interact with individuals of varying ages and cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
Experience in making decisions independently, manage details of complex projects and processes aligned with strategic priorities from start to finish with minimal direction, and to adapt to constantly shifting priorities and outcomes.
Computer skills using software programs (i.e. Microsoft Word and Excel) for word processing, maintaining databases, and accessing student information.
Preferred:Knowledge of UC policies regarding affirmative action and privacy of information.
Experience in problem identification, reasoning, analysis to identify trends; ability to find solutions to conflicting situations.
Experience working with student records and applying federal and state FERPA and Information Privacy Act regulations including retrieval and assembly of information for preparation of reports, schedules, correspondence and other documentation and communications.
Knowledge of course offerings, prerequisites, and programs available on campus including registration procedures and deadlines.
Knowledge of university, college, major, general education and NCAA policy requirements and their application to specific programs of major.
Knowledge of Managerial Economics undergraduate major requirements.
Experience with OASIS, Degree Certification, Banner, SISWEB, ACE and DESII.
Experience with planning and executing recruitment and outreach events in a university setting.
