The Access Control & Security Administrator is the primary administrative master user of Housing’s Key Management, Electronic Access and CCTV database and Building Controls systems. This position is responsible for the creation, oversight, operation, and maintenance of critical systems on a 24/7 basis for improved tracking of physical keys and planning for future expansion of housing security systems.
These database systems control key access for approximately 88 Housing Facilities Service staff and entry into each of the 10 Residence Halls, Spencer View and Grad Village for over 250 Residence Life Staff and 4200 students as well as vendors and campus partners. This position will structure, implement, and monitor database systems to optimize data, access, and security.
Typical duties may include:
Operate the Morse Watchman Key Management, AMAG Access system software, Milestone CCTV management software, and Building Management Software (Seimans, ALERTON)
Design database systems and programs which include access methods, access time, file structures, device allocation, statistical methods, and security
Work with user community to understand data access and integration needs, and how staff changes during the academic year impacts the amount of database change work
Manage alarms and flags issued by the database software that will require action to the hardware/location of the alarm/flag
Manage the selection and creation of reports for supervisory control of Facilities data base systems
Manage how the campus ID card is used to electronically access key cabinets and buildings
Identify, analyze, and track large volumes of data on an on-going basis, and correct identified discrepancies. Troubleshoot and resolve database and data problems.
This position supervises two classified staff and two student employees and also directs the work of contractor and vendor resources in the performance of operations. The Access Control & Security Administrator reports to the University Housing Facilities Manager, Residence Halls, Dining and Security. This position works cooperatively and collaboratively with staff within University Housing, all members of the Housing Facilities Services team, UOPD, and University partners.
This position requires that the employee make every reasonable effort to arrive at campus at their regularly scheduled times during inclement weather and/or university closures unless otherwise notified by their supervisor or manager. This includes times when the university may be closed. Essential personnel must provide reliable and current contact information at all times.
Valid driver's license for purpose of obtaining a UO Driver’s Certification. Must submit to a state of residency and national fingerprint-based records check for FBI Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) compliance within 30-days of employment.
Associate's degree OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Three years of experience maintaining and working within a complex database system; analyzing data and creating reports
Experience supervising or coordinating the work of others
Excellent oral and written communication skills and a sensitivity to effectively interact with a highly diverse campus community
Proven ability to consistently demonstrate a high degree of personal integrity and sound professional judgement
Ability to assess critical or emergent situations and determine an appropriate course of action
Demonstrated analytical, decision-making, problem identification and resolution skills
Coursework or experience related to project management
Four years of experience managing technology and/or communications systems
Experience with CCTV, access control and alarm systems
Experience training personnel
Three years of experience providing administrative support in a large complex organization
Three years of experience providing direct customer service, including face-to-face, telephone, and email communication
Demonstrated working knowledge of Windows-based applications; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Experience working with AMAG access control software, and Milestone CCTV software
