POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Gaming Commission Office Manager & the indirect supervision of the Background and Licensing Manager, the Office Receptionist will serve as the representative who meets the public and applicants seeking gaming licenses from the Shingle Springs Gaming Commission and will be assigned to the point of entry into the commission offices. The Office Receptionist will professionally greet and direct visitors to the various commission staff or units and provide an initial level of security for accessing the office area.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Will conduct routine meet and greet of employees and visitors to the Shingle Springs Gaming Commission offices, then route visitors to the appropriate staff of unit.
Will professionally answer incoming telephone calls, collect faxes and disseminate messages and other data to staff.
Will work closely with casino employees and other commission staff in an office environment.
May be assigned to assist in the collection of records and other data for use by internal audit staff, compliance unit, or background investigations staff.
Will maintain accurate records of fax transmissions, FedEx UPS, or other forms of communication, sending and receiving documents and packages, with heavy filing and record keeping.
Will maintain general office supplies and assist in ordering of replacement supplies.
Oversee office cleaning by maintenance staff.
Prepare electronic identification badges for new casino employees, and update and replace badges for current casino employees as needed.
Hand out and explain to potential casino employees Gaming Licensing Application packets to potential casino employees.
Prepare and disseminate Gaming License Renewal packets to casino departments as needed and setting up employee appointments as needed.
Scanning and archiving files in an electronic format, and other duties as assigned.
Assist in the organization and tracking of the daily office schedule, as well as prepare new hire files.
May occasionally assist other commission staff and units as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED is required
Must be of excellent moral character and integrity, qualify for, obtain and maintain a gaming license issued by the Shingle Springs Gaming Commission
Must be proficient in the use of commonly used office systems, programs, and equipment including telephones and fax machines
Must be able to interact well with the public
Must have good writing and verbal communications skills
Must be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
Experience in making electronic employee identification badges is preferred
Ability to work in a confined office setting with others
Filing duties may require applicant to lift and move files, binders, and other storage media; bending over and bending at the knees may be required.
Must tolerate limited exposure to work areas which may contain second-hand cigarette smoke
Bilingual preferred but not required
Current California Driver’s license is required
Special Provision: Must complete contractual Conflict of Interest, Confidentiality, and Non-Gaming Agreements


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in making electronic employee identification badges helpful.

The following order of preference shall be adhered to when hiring: (1) Members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians members; (2) Spouses or domestic partners (certified through Tribal Court or the State of California) of members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; 3) Parents of children of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; 4) All other documented Native Americans; 5) All other applicants in accordance with Title 25, U.S. Code, Section 472 and 473. Applicants claiming Indian preference must submit verification of Indian eligibility.
