Job Overview The Release of Information Associate compiles, processes, and maintains medical records of hospital and clinic patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements consistent with healthcare industry's numerical coding system.
Responsibilities POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE
No direct patient care
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
Protects the security of records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained in compliance with regulations and laws; verifies that appropriate authorizations have been obtained.
Retrieves patient records as required and reviews records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations; archives medical records in compliance with governmental law or internal rules and policies.
Processes patient admission or discharge documents while maintaining logs, documenting process.
Responsible for quality assurance related to release of information. Utilizes various reports or manual verification processes to uphold ROI quality standards.
Performs the complete release of information process utilizing various hospital computer or electronic systems.
Provides customer service to clients, assisting them through the release of information process.
Additional duties by position may include, but not limited to: processing invoices and collections; releasing patient information to payers in support of the Revenue

EDUCATION – High school diploma or equivalent.
¿Prefer an Associates of Health Information or related field
2 years of Release of Information experience and strong Customer Service skills in a healthcare setting
Basic knowledge of HIPAA Privacy Rule

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $31,999.35 to $47,999.02 Hourly Salary Range: $15.38 to $23.08 Benefits Information
