About The Position
The employee in this position greets patrons as they enter the library and problem-solves to accommodate patron needs while maintaining a comfortable and safe environment for patrons and staff. While promoting compliance with the Library Rules of Conduct using exceptional customer service skills, they educate library customers about conduct rules when necessary, helping to maintain a positive library atmosphere for all library users. This position sustains a high level of visibility while securing the library and assists with all emergency and safety procedures.
Part-time positions are considered unclassified, meaning they are at will and serve at the discretion of the City. We currently have one vacancy at the Mustang Library, located at 10101 N 90th Street in Scottsdale, AZ.
Selection Process: Applicants whose education, training and experience most closely meet the needs of the position may be invited to participate in a selection process to include a panel interview and an assessment exercise. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include: Fingerprinting
Criminal Background screening for the past 7 years


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent, two years college work, and any combination of training and experience equivalent to one year recent public contact experience resolving various levels of customer service needs.
An equivalent combination of education and job related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:
Functions vary by library location Makes routine inspections around the inside and outside of the library to insure building security by checking or locking doors, looking for safety or security problems and being attentive to potential situations or circumstances.
Responds promptly to all fire, security, gate or other building alarms to determine cause and take appropriate steps to correct.
Makes the initial contact with library customers to request appropriate behavior.
Responds to incidents involving violation of City and library policies, gathers information, documents facts and circumstances and submits written incident reports to supervisor.
Answers directional questions and accepts donated materials.

Lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Pushes heavy cart weighing up to 300 pounds across library.
