Summary: Little Miss Mag nurtures the preschool child of working parents at an affordable cost. We are dedicated to empowering families by providing affordable early childhood education for our changing community. We believe that all children need the opportunity to play and the freedom to explore their environment; therefore, we provide play environments both in the classroom and outside.All staff members participate in an ongoing program of in-service education in order to keep abreast of the findings of current research and remain alert to the ever-changing needs of today’s families. In addition, all are active in local professional early childhood associations.Little Miss Mag Early Learning Center is a private, non-profit, downtown, United Way Agency and is licensed by the Tennessee Department of Human Services.Responsibilities & Expectations: Opening Childcare Greeters lead our morning check-in by greeting students and parents, gathering the required information, and accompanying students to their classrooms.Work Hours: 7:00 - 10:00Duties include but are not limited to:Models and promotes positive dispositions. (enthusiasm, friendliness, cooperation, affection, energetic) Verbally interacts with children, kneels, bends, or sits to establish better eye contact. Implement the procedures for morning check-in Helps to maintain a safe and healthy environment following licensing and Performance Standards requirements, i.e. following sanitizing procedures, posts necessary health and safety information, practicing safety drills, hand washing, using gloves, identifying and documenting suspected child abuse, etc. Provides the highest level of supervision for children including, but not limited to, supervision during mealtimes, outdoor play, transitions from one part of the building to another, enrichment times, and field trips. Communicating daily with parents on children’s academic and social-emotional progress, and keeping parents abreast of any needs (includes, but is not limited to completing the parent daily notes when in the room when needed pertaining to diaper changes, feedings, etc.) Maintaining a clean and orderly front office. Reporting broken equipment or hazards to the Lead Opening Teacher and the COO as needed. Achieving (at a minimum) 24 hours of annual training as approved by the COO. Other duties as assigned by the COO. Follow center policy and procedure when addressing sensitive issues or concerns parents may share. Attends all agency assigned meetings and gathering information
Required Skills and Experience:The Opening Childcare Greeters position requires a minimum of a High School Diploma. CPR and First Aid Certified (Provided by the Company at the Company’s expense) A current physical, Covid-19 test, background test, and drug test are required. Drug test and background test are given by the company at company expense. Covid-19 and physicals are done by the employee at the employee’s expense prior to hiring. Requires the ability to bend, kneel, and squat many times each day. Requires the ability to prevent or rescue children from a potentially dangerous situation in a short amount of time. Requires visual and auditory ability to observe children. Requires the ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds several times a day. Experience in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive, collaborative approach
Strong oral communication skills Ability to build positive and meaningful relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff Ability to follow the lead of and collaborate with the Full-Time Classroom Teacher Demonstrated skill in effective communication, conflict resolution, creativity, problem-solving, decision making, and time management.
Additionally, we’d love it if you have:1 Year of experience as working with children as a caregiver or teacher An Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education with thirty(30) hours of early education coursework or a The Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential™ is preferred. (Transcripts and Copy of Certification required).
