Location: Northfield, VT Category: Administrative /Manager /Professional Posted On: Tue Jul 21 2020 Job Description: The senior accountant is responsible for maintaining timely and accurate balance sheet and general ledger accounts. The position reports to the Controller.
Verify, record and post a variety of financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and University policy Compile, interpret and analyze financial data, often complex in structure, and generate related schedules and reports Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies. Prepare timely and accurate bank reconciliations Update accounting related systems to improved operating efficiency and timeliness Assist in audits and prepare supporting work papers Liaison with bank regarding credit card machines and setting up new merchant accounts Maintain and update fixed asset records Provides technical advice and service to staff and provides advice on complex accounting matters to department and/or university staff Monitors and manages accounting records to assure compliance with federal and state regulations (Federal Title IV, state unclaimed property, GLBA, etc.) Prepares federal, state and local tax returns Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or related field Four years' experience in accounting/finance CPA or CMA Preferred Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required Ellucian Banner or similar integrated software experience desired Efficient and accurate data transfer skills Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) & interpretation skills Additional Information: is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to providing a positive education and work environment that recognizes and respects the dignity of all students, faculty and staff.
