Together, we work every day to put a smile on your pet's face.Position Summary: The Plant Superintendent directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of company product(s) on the 2nd shift by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
Conducts hearings to resolve or effect settlement of grievances and refers unresolved grievances for management union negotiations.
Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEMaster's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3-5 years of related manufacturing work experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to create and present ideas, reports in various formats.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to assign and delegate tasks.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Proficient with data entry and inventory software and systems.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Ability to anticipate and solve problems.
Ability to work 2nd shift, extended hours, weekends and holidays.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must be flexible, innovative, and comfortable in setting own priorities.

ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
