The Polysomnographic Technologist is primarily responsible for obtaining interpretable recordings of patients’ nervous system functions. Also performs functions pertaining to the treatment of sleep disorders, including patient assessment and operation of diagnostic equipment. This involves preparing the patient (adolescent, adult, geriatric and special needs), proper titration of CPAP/BiPAP. Follows protocol for the titration of oxygen. High School education or equivalent required.
Graduate of AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care, Diagnostic or Sleep Medicine program required.
Maintain current Respiratory Care license for Illinois.
Required hospital in-services and CEU’s for licensure.
Registered Sleep Technician (RPSGT) required. Current CPR by AHA.
AARC, NBRC, or ISRC.
Ability to establish good rapport with patients, public and staff with the capacity to deal with severely ill patients.

Safety – Has received training, know and meets all job relevant standards related to OSHA, Fire, Safety and Utilities, Security, Emergency Preparedness, etc. Complies with all safety policies using proper tools in order to provide a safe work environment. Wears ID Badge at all times. When lifting heavy items always use proper lifting techniques. Addresses Employee/Patient incidents promptly, identifies and mitigates risks, follows Hand Hygiene guidelines, medication reconciliation (if applicable), and ventilator use (if applicable) all in accordance with KSB policies.
Teamwork – Works well with other members of his/her department to promote a team effort for the good of the department’s functions. Recognizes and rewards success.
