This position is part-time with a potential for more hours in the future. We are looking for someone that can work weekends, weekdays and holidays.Applicant must be 18 years of age or older

Animal Caretakers are responsible for the daily care and cleaning of the animals at the shelter. This position is working with the cats and small animals. This position does not have an opportunity to work directly with the dogs at this time. THIS IS NOT A POSITION TO PET CATS. This is a position that cleans 25-100 litter boxes daily, cleans, waters, and feeds cats daily. Are you comfortable working with animal feces and urine along with intestinal parasites, wounds, ringworm, lice, mites and fleas? It is highly rewarding if you want to help care for animals. They rely solely on the person taking care of them and we are looking to hire someone who is passionate about animals. After all the work is done, then you can socialize and give pets.Main Duties: ~Daily feeding, watering and cleaning of all cat areas.~Responsible for closely monitoring medical/behavioral observation logs to ensure each animal is receiving the care standard.~Medicate animals that need antibiotics/vaccines/dewormings/etc.~Mopping, sweeping, and taking out trash for all kennels and common areas.~Deep cleaning once a week requires a spray washing down of all the kennels in the shelter.Duties and Responsibilities * Following cleaning, feeding, and watering protocols to maintain the health of the animals. * Following safety protocols (ex: when working with fearful/feral cats). * Responsible for ensuring the checklist items are done on a daily basis. * Ensuring the housing areas are organized and presentable. The cats should also have appropriate blankets, toys, etc. * Maintaining animal/cleaning supplies inventory by notifying management to replenish stock with adequate notice. * Communicating any observed animal health and/or behavioral changes to the Manager and log book. * Preparing animals prior to surgical procedures by withholding food and displaying proper notice as requested. * Be able to drive transport van and assist with transport of animals to vets. * Able to work with the public when stray animals come in. * Other duties as requested.Education RequirementsGraduation from a high school or the equivalent (GED) is required.

Experience RequirementsPrevious experience performing animal care activities is required.

Note: An individual may still qualify if they have a combination of education, experience and/or training that can provide the level of knowledge, skills and ability required for this position.Physical RequirementsAbility to remain on feet for long periods of time.

Ability to lift 40 lbs.

Ability to perform physical tasks that include but are not limited to climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, crawling, holding and lifting.

Ability to work in small, confined places.

Additional RequirementsAvailable to work some holidays, and special events.

A valid driver’s license and own a vehicle
