azstateparks.com SUMMARY OF DUTIES Under the general direction of the Assistant Park Manager, the Park Ranger II will perform a variety of skilled work activities associated with the operation and maintenance of recreation-based or natural resource/historic park. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides park maintenance and improvement projects including grounds, building, equipment, trails, fences, road, memorial site facilities, etc. Repairs and projects necessary to meet the needs of park resources, visitors, staff by following maintenance standards Cleaning restrooms, trash removal, painting, landscape maintenance, light plumbing, vehicle repair, and other general cleaning duties Work both independently and with others. Provides excellent customer service to all visitors. Promotes public safety by educating the public on park rules and regulations. Assists in the supervision of community restitution work crews, seasonal employees, and volunteers in various park projects. Assists in managing any emergency situation that may occur on the park.
This position must be able to work weekends and holidays and could possibly relocate to another state park seasonally and/or permanently. May require EMT or Water/Waste Water Certification. If EMT is required, you must be able to meet eligibility requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Candidates must have knowledge of: Basic constructionelectrical, carpentry, and plumbing. Basic first aid. Park rules and regulations.
Candidates must have skills in: Basic constructionelectrical, carpentry, and plumbing. Driving, operating and servicing motorized and automotive equipment. Oral and written communication. Interpersonal relationships. Assigning and working with work crews.
Candidates must have the ability to: Uniformly and consistently interpret and enforce agency rules and regulations. Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Work with groups of people while maintaining a courteous and professional manner. Work independently and as a member of a team.
SELECTIVE PREFERENCES An ideal candidate would have: Bachelors Degree in the area of Park Management, Natural Resource Management, Recreation, or closely related field. Experience in park management and operations.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12) Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees. Successfully pass reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
