Position Summary: The Dietary Care Specialists are an integral part of the client care team at Toledo Center for Eating Disorders. Toledo Center is a clinically excellent treatment center dedicated to helping adult women/men, and adolescents who are struggling with an eating disorder. Our facility was designed to provide an attractive and safe alternative to hospital or hospital-based programs. We believe in accessible treatment by utilizing evidence-based interventions. Our team of professionals offer treatment for those clients with an eating disorder with or without other co-occurring disorders. Our focus is to address and deal with underlying issues for eating disorder recovery and support clients in regaining long-term recovery. Relationships and Contacts Within the organization: Maintains frequent and close working relationships with clients, Dietitians, Therapists, Management, Clinical Director, facility leadership, peers and vendors. Outside the organization: May initiate and maintain working relationships with clinical providers, referral partners and vendors as needed and directed. Essential Responsibilities: Serves as a key member of the Toledo Center for Eating Disorders team regarding dietary needs and food preferences while maintaining stock levels of foods appropriate for the day to day operations of the kitchen.
Ensures that any special dietary needs of the clients are met.
Follows all health and safety guidelines for storage and preparation of food items.
S/he will be responsible for ensuring that temperature controls of food storage refrigerators/freezers are maintained at the appropriate levels and are checked daily.
Assists with ensuring all kitchen appliances are in good working order and are cleaned and disinfected on a routine basis.
Assist with all food preparation activities in a safe, sanitary and efficient manner.
Complete chart notes and other documentation in a timely manner.
Assists in promoting and ensuring that the mission, goals and objectives of Toledo Center are understood and actively supported by the employees.
May prepare extra meals for visitors and/or staff.
Determines the presence of unhealthy/unsafe conditions in the work area and reports these conditions to the proper personnel.
Ensures that Toledo Center follows all food safety, health safety, food service and sanitation standards.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications related to Toledo Center's Mission and population.
Prepares and directs the preparation of meals for Toledo Center clients.
Prepares/Cooks meals based on the individualized needs of each client.
Maintains and cleans food preparation area, washes dishes throughout and/or following meal times.
Complies with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards, and follows established food production programs and procedures.
Completes all necessary training required by Toledo Center, CARF, OhioMHAS and the Department of Health.
Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities: Functions within the guidelines of the facility’s Code of Ethics and in accordance with corporate compliance.
Assists in promoting and ensuring that the mission, goals and objectives of Toledo Center are understood and actively supported by the employees.
Provides a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Accomplishes organization mission by completing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum of two year’s experience working in a facility dietary setting is strongly desired.
High School diploma or GED equivalent required, previous food preparation experience. Experience in healthcare, mental health or eating disorder treatment facilities preferred.
Must have a valid driver license and satisfactory 2-year driving record.
Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed.
