Children's Advocacy Center Responsibilities Conducts neutral, fact finding forensic interviews of suspected child abuse/neglect victims and/or witnesses to violent crimes within a multidisciplinary team approach involving law enforcement, child protection workers, prosecutors, family/victim advocates, medical specialists and mental health professionals Completes a written summary of the forensic interview and ensure timely dissemination of report to multidisciplinary team members relevant to the investigation Facilitates and/or participates in meetings with multidisciplinary team members and caregivers Testifies as a fact witness in civil, dependency, and criminal court proceedings regarding general forensic interview processes and techniques, as appropriate and requested Participates in peer review with other forensic interviewers as directed Remains current on research involving current trends in forensic interviewing/child abuse investigations, as well as the child advocacy center model, implementing as appropriate/recommended Assists with conducting community based trainings regarding the dynamics of child abuse, when requested Assists with grant writing/reporting as requested, which includes the accurate documentation of daily activity time reporting Participates in on-call CAC procedures as assigned Participates and facilitates, as requested, meetings designed to review/discuss current investigations involving multidisciplinary team members (e.g. law enforcement, child protective services investigators, deputy juvenile officers, medical providers, prosecuting attorney, mental health providers) Provides supervision of practicum students when applicable All other duties as assigned Qualifications A master’s degree in related/relevant area and at least two (2) years of experience in child abuse/neglect investigations or related field from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired. Three (3) years practical experience in the child protection field that includes knowledge regarding child forensic interviewing, child protection, child development, how children disclose abuse, and other dynamics associated with child abuse/neglect. History of successful collaboration within a multidisciplinary setting that includes: law enforcement, social service, mental health providers, medical specialists and both criminal and family court. Possesses conceptual knowledge of theories, practices and procedures within the child forensic interview process
Applies general knowledge of the organization and forensic services knowledge developed through education and experiences
Ability to build and maintain positive, strength based relationships with multidisciplinary members, including CASGSL staff
Ability to work as an effective team member within the forensic department Application Instructions
