The position of Laboratory Analyst ensures the Quality standards are met for analytical testing of raw material, in process and finished product samples. The ability to generate reports from analytical testing and effectively communicate with a cross-functional group both verbally and non-verbally is essential.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Perform analytical testing of raw sugar discharge and blackstrap analysis
Analyze daily liquid and granulated samples to ensure compliance with company specification
Prompt reporting of OOS results as required
Cross training to provide back-up for the Microbiologist and QCI
Monitor the release of Certificate of Analysis (CoA) as required
Oversee the lab equipment and in-line equipment calibration program
Prepare batch reagents for lab testing
Perform daily composite Raw Sugar testing
Participation in continuous improvement measures to mitigate Sugar Loss
Prepare samples for environmental testing for BOD and TSS; conduct testing where necessary
Perform assigned training by stated deadlines
Comply with GMP policies for the lab and wider refinery
Participate in Stock in Process measurements and sampling
Review laboratory records to ensure compliance to SQF laboratory standards
Keep work areas neat and clean and all laboratory equipment in good working order
Other duties and projects as assigned

WORK EXPERIENCES Two years of industrial experience preferred

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred
High School or GED equivalent required
