Imagine applying your marketing and communication experience working with a diverse student body and faculty that helps the community “Inspire Human Solutions to Today’s Challenges.” We are looking for someone who can lead and be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and/or controlling all aspects related to marketing and communications including (but not limited to) promoting new and existing initiatives within the College of Social and Behavioral Science, its departments and programs to internal and external audiences; coordinating with the university’s central communication’s office on news and publications; writing supportive content and oversee design, publication, and distribution of twice-yearly magazine that celebrates diverse research and teaching in the college, monthly newsletters and proposals; manage and develop best practices for marketing and communications staff, including overseeing college and departmental/program website maintenance; relationship building, and general University representation. Acts as a catalyst between the college, its departments and programs, alumni and the community to ensure continuity and quality of service.
1.Marketing/Communications: promote and advertise new and existing initiatives to internal and external customers through different mediums, including print materials (proposals, flyers, brochures, event invitations and programs, etc.), email campaigns (admissions, events, newsletters, etc.), websites (campaign asks, redesigns, updates, etc.); develop new strategies and best practices for projects; develop and monitor team budget. Team Management: cross train and develop team members; prioritize/assign projects and oversee progress; review and approve time cards; manage performance; provide continuous support and feedback; weekly team meetings. Events: work collaboratively with administrative assistant on print and digital materials needed for events.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in communications with emphases in strategic communication and/or journalism or relevant field or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role with progressively more responsibility in management. Background knowledge of assigned department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors is a plus. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning to effectively facilitate team members to ensure the smooth operation of department. Demonstrated skill in communicating with a wide variety of audiences and working with diverse communities.
Master’s degree in communications or a related area may be preferred. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
